DAVE PARSEL WINS FEBRUARY 5K IN TIME OF 16:58

     Dave Parsel won his 28th 5K with a time of 16:58 on February 19, 2001.  Dave and Gary Brodie are tied with 28 wins, one behind John Araujo who has won 29 races.  Rounding out the top five were:  John Araujo 2- 17:09, Gary Shapiro 3- 17:36, David Schiller 4- 18:13 and Jim Walton 5- 18:41.

     Geri Griffin led nine runners who established personal best by lowering her PB by 2:41 after lowering her PB in January by an amazing 8:59!  Others setting PB's were David Fankhauser (1:25 better), Larry Di Meo (1:02 better), Cathy Sejansky (40 seconds), Tim Casabonne (32 seconds), MaryScott King (23 seconds), Liz Beattie (20 seconds), Mark Calkins (14 seconds), Gary Shapiro (9 seconds).

     A great turnout of 47 runners ran the race despite the threatening rain and the one week postponement.  Congrats to all that participated in the run.

      The next 5K is scheduled for Monday, March 12, 2001 at 11:50 AM.

 

ANAHEIM WINS TEAM EVENT

     Anaheim won the team event with 41 places and a team time of 99:02.  Tied for 2nd were Aerospace and Corporate.  Aerospace had 59 places and a total team time of 104:22.  Corporate had total places of 62 and a total team time of 103:47.  Huntington Beach was 4th with a team time of 114:32 and total places of 110.  Aerospace and Anaheim have both won one team event in 2001.  Aerospace leads Corporate in the cum team event 101-57-10.

      Leading Anaheim was:  John Araujo 2- 17:09, Gary Shapiro 3- 17:36, Kie Soohoo 10- 20:51, David Rusher 11- 21:01 and Jim Heller 15- 21:25.  Aerospace was paced by Jack Yin 8- 19:54, Mark Calkins 9- 20:47, Tony Trujillo 12- 21:03, John Duquette 14- 21:05 and Bob Palomba 16- 21:33.  Corporate was led by: Jim Walton 5- 18:41, Todd Byers 7- 19:25, Ed Loh 12- 21:03, Rich Terrell 17- 21:47 and Ralph Castro 21- 22:51.  Huntington Beach was paced by: Dave Parsel 1- 16:58, David Schiller 4- 18:13, Larry Di Meo 26- 23:46,  Beth Parsel 38- 27:04 and Amy Guden 41-28:21. 

 

AEROSPACE AND CORPORATE TIE IN MIXED TEAM EVENT

     Aerospace and Corporate tied in the mixed team event on February 19, 2001.  Aerospace won places 137-153, but Corporate won the team time 125:01 to 125:41.  This leaves Aerospace with 1.5 wins for 2001 with Corporate at .5.  In the last 22 races Aerospace has won 20 and tied 2!!  Aerospace leads Corporate in the cum series 73-53-27.

    Leading Aerospace was Peter Lew 18- 21:49, Fred Sienko 19- 22:26, Graham Anderson 20- 22:36, Gerry Griffin 36- 26:00 and Liz Beattie 44- 32:50.  Corporate was paced by: Stuart Hall 23- 23:04, Larry Ginsberg 25- 23:39, Greg Lang 31- 24:52, MaryScott King 32- 25:11 and Cathy Sejansky 42- 28:35.  Anaheim's lone runner was Glen Oak in 25:21.
