†††††††††††† MICHELLE DEJONG 29TH RUNNER INDUCTED IN SEAL BEACH RUNNERS HOF

.†††††Michelle was the 29th runner inducted into the Seal Beach Runners Hall of Fame on

December 12, 2016.Following are a few highlights of Michelleís running career:

Michelle ran Cross Country for one year in high school. She ran herfirst lunch hour 5K inApril 1999 and she has ran 77 lunch hour 5Kís.Michelle, Tony Trujillo, Mark Calkins, Catherine Buell and others made a pact in 1999 to run their first marathon.They trained for 6 months following a training guide found on the internet and ran the Los Angeles Marathon in the spring of 2000.

Michelle qualified and ran in four consecutive Boston Marathons from 2003 to 2006 with times of 3:54 to 4:06.Her best marathon time was 3:39 in the Long Beach Marathon in 2002.

Michelle ran her 40th and last Marathon in the Surf City Marathon in 2009 in a time of 4:04.

Michelle ran the 5K and several relays as part of the Boeing Corporate team in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2014.

Michelle has a personal best of 21:51 in the 5K set in this race in October 2000.Her 10K personal best of46:39 was set in the 2002 Seal Beach10K.She has ran a few half marathons.She ran the Mt Baldy Run and ran up 75 flights of stairs in the LA Stair Climb run.She participated in many open ocean swim events including Pier to Pier swim at Hermosa/Manhattan beach, about 15 Olympic length Triathlons, swim race around Naples Island, and raced road bikes in Long Beach with a cyling team, and raced mountain bikes in Big Bear mostly. 

Michelleís most memorable event was running the Olympic torch around the track during opening ceremony of the Corporate team event!  It was a torch that was actually used during a prior Olympics.

 

DAVID HICKS WINS RACE 376 ON DECEMBER 12, 2016 WITH A TIME OF 20.05

David Hicks won race 376 on November 14, 2016 with a time of 20:05This was Davidís 5th

victory which places him in 12th place in number of wins.Rounding out the top five are 2- Randy Parker

20:57, 3- Nam Ngo 21:23, 4- Giovany Pelaez 22:07 and 5- Todd Schroeder 22:40.

     The only personal best (PB) was set by Giovany Pelaez who lowered his personal best

by 5 seconds.†† Congrats.

 

†††††††††††† ANNUAL RUN TO THE PIER FOR BEER IS WEDNESDAY, DEC 14

††††† The annual run to the Seal Beach pier will be held on Wednesday, December 14th.Time

your run to reach the entrance to the Seal Beach Pier before 12:15 as a group picture will be

taken at 12:15.

††††† The group making the run will decide the venue for lunch.
