Thanks to Ralph Wetterhahn. Todd Byers, Nelson Slagle, Felicia Woodson and Ed Cohn for speaking at the event.  Ed Cohn presented an 8x10 framed print of a picture taken at the starting line on June 14, 2010 just before the start of our 299th 5K.  About 30 runners are in the picture including Joan.  A 2nd copy was presented to Jill Graham at today’s 5K and is hanging on the east wall of the Seal Beach Fitness Center.  Thanks Ed.

SERVICES FOR DENNY GALVIN ARE OCTOBER 16

Following is information on Denny Galvin passing and services.  Denny ran 18 of our lunch hour 5K's in the 1980's and 1990's in addition to several Run to Pier for Beer runs.

It is with great sadness that I write to let you know that Denny passed away Monday evening at 8:30.  He had been having health issues with a kidney problem that just got worse very quickly.  He had endocarditis.  The infection started in his kidney then went through his bloodstream attacking all foreign objects in his body primarily his right knee replacement and his heart valve.  They removed his left kidney a week ago and we thought he was doing pretty well.  They planned to remove the knee replacement this Wednesday and lastly do the heart valve replacement.  His body was just not strong enough and his heart too badly damaged and he had a heart attack and they were not able to revive him.  I am very sorry to let you know like this as I'm not even certain you knew that anything was going on.  Sadly his brother who was 3 years older than Denny passed away July 26th.

We have finalized the services for Denny's memorial and wanted to pass the information on to you.  Since I have not been able to locate an e-mail address for everyone, I hope for those I have missed that you will be so kind as to pass this information along.
