RICH TERRELL INDUCTED INTO RUNNERS HALL OF FAME

Rich Terrell became the 22nd runner to be inducted into the Seal Beach Runners Hall of Fame on December 13, 2010, just prior to the lunch hour 5K. Some of Richs accomplishments are:

Started running at age 10 or 11 in a fitness event at a local park completing 50 miles over a few weeks to earn a 50 mile Running Club award

Rich ran track and cross country at Paramount High School setting personal bests (PB) of 4:33 in the mile and 9:36 in the 2 mile distance.

Ran 99 5Ks including 90 lunch hour 5Ks with a PB of 19:33.

Ran 34 10Ks and 5 milers (including 14 of last 15 Seal Beach 10Ks) with a PB of 41:40 in the 10K.

Ran 19 half marathons and 10 milers with a PB of 1:41:35 in the half marathon

Ran 6 marathons, the first at Palos Verdes in 1970 and a Personal Best of 3:03 in the 1971 Anaheim marathon.

Earned black belt in Kung Fu San Soo a few years ago and has biked to work and back (4 miles each way) for the last 12 years.

Attended 4 Olympics including 1974 Montreal and 2004 Athens, Greece Olympics.

          DAVE PARSEL WINS DECEMBER 2010 5K IN 18:11

      Forty-one runners participated in the December 13, 2010 5K as Dave Parsel won his 115th race in a time of 18:11.  Rounding out the top five were Brian Conboy 2- 18:52 Chuck Sohaskey 3- 20:45, Andy Born 4- 21:39 and Emmett Rahl 5- 22:29.

      Three runners established personal best. Robert Quiroz lowered his Personal Best by 42 seconds, Raji Shunmugavel lowered her PB by 41 seconds and Nicholas Tyma lowered his PB by 12 seconds.   

   The next 5K is scheduled for 11:50 AM Monday, January 10, 2011 at Gate 510.

FIVE RUNNERS RUN ALL 12 RACES IN 2010

Five runners ran all 12 races in 2010. These runners are with consecutive races run in parenthesis: Dave Parsel (42), Nelson Slagle (36), Emmett Rahl (30), Jim Heller (16) and Rick Salas (12).

RICK SALAS RUNS 200TH RACE AND JIM SCIANNI RUNS 100TH RACE

Rick Salas became the 3rd runner to run his 200th race today. Jim Scianni becomes the 16th runner to runs his 100th race today.

ANNUAL RUN TO THE PIER FOR BEER WILL BE DECEMBER 15

The annual run to the pier for beer will be held Wednesday, December 15th. You can start your run from anywhere, but be at Rubys at the end of the Seal Beach pier by 12:15 PM as that is when the group picture will be taken. You are welcomed to join the group at Rubys afterword.
