JOHN ARAUJO WINS FFBRUARY 2010 5K IN TIME OF 17:41

      John Araujo won our 295th lunch hour 5K on February 8, 2010 5K in a time of 17:41.  John has now won 41 lunch hour 5Ks. We have now held 295 races with the first race being held in April 1981. 

This is the 29th straight 5K won by either John or Dave. John Araujo, Jr. won the 5K in August 2007, 30 races go.

      Rounding out the top five were: Dave Parsel 2-17:51, Randy Parker 3- 20:26, Brian Werner 4- 20:50 and Yihfa Wang 5- 20:59.

Brian Arabori and Emma Garcia-Callga were the only runners to establish a Personal Best (PB) in the February race. Brian lowered his PB by 1:51 and Emma lowered her PB by 1 second.

Brian Arabori ran a 23:25 at age 11 to break his record of 25:16 as a 10 year old. Congrats Brian.

We had runners from age 11 to 85, the largest age difference ever. We had runners in all 8 age groups from 10-19 to 80-89! We had 12 runners in their 40;s, 12 in their 50s and 5 at age 70 or older!

We had 39 runners, the best February since 2003.

Melisa Callison became our first runner with an artificial leg and ran a 44:29 after running a half marathon yesterday! She has been an amputee for 40 years but has only run for the last 4 years. Congrats Melisa.

       The next 5K is scheduled for 11:50 AM Monday, March 8th at Gate 510.
