††††† CHRIS AVERY WINS 1ST LUNCH HOUR 5K ON AUGUST 8, 2011

      Chris Avery edged Dave Parsel by six seconds in the August 8, 2011 lunch hour 5K.Chris had finished 2nd to Dave Parsel in his prior two races.Dave had won the last 15 races.Chris Averyísí win also snapped a streak of 48 straight races won by either Dave Parsel or John Araujo.Chris Avery at 21 is the first winner under 49 years of age since John Araujo, Jr. won the August 2007 race at the age of 16. Congrats Chris.

††††  Rounding out the top five into days race were Dave Parsel 2- 18:05, Nam Ngo 3- 19:55, Sheila King 4- 20:12 and Andy Born 5- 20:13

††††† Sheila King ran a 20:12 today, the 2nd fastest time ever recorded by a female.Nicole Blalock ran a 19:04 in Oct 2007 and Jill Spencer ran a 20:59 in Jan 1999.Sheila also ran the fastest time for any female in the 40-49 age range breaking her prior record of 20:26 set last March.†† Sheila finished 4th today, tying Nicole Blalockís October 2007 4th place finish for the highest finish by a female.Congrats Sheila.

†††† Linda Creason led 4 runners establishing personal best (PB) by lowering her PB prior best by 3:35.Sheila King lowered her 5K by 14 seconds, Jay Scollick lowered his PB by 13 seconds and Chris Avery beat his PB by 12 seconds.††Congrats to all.

†††††† Jennifer King, age 14, finished the 5K in 28:50.I believe she is the youngest female to ever participate in our 5K.†† Congrats Jennifer.

†††† Dave Parcel (51 straight races), Emmett Rahl (41straight races), Jon Steinberg (18 straight races),Nam Ngo (14 straight races), Peter Lew (14 straight races), Chris King (8 straight races) and Richard Perales (8 straight races)have run the most consecutive races.Nelson Slagleís streak of 42 races ended last month and Jim Hellerís 24 consecutive races ended today.

†††† The 41 participants today was the most since 44 ran last February.It is also the second highest August since 2001.

†††† Eleven females ran today, the most since 14 ran in our 300th race in June 2010.
