DAVE SHAPRIO WINS GUESSTIMATE RACE

Dave Shapiro won the September 11, 2000 guesstimate race by missing his finishing time by 3 seconds. This was the first guesstimate race that Dave has run. Rounding out the top five were: David Schiller 2- 4 second miss, John Araujo 3- 5 second miss, Tom Ludwinski 4- 7 second miss and Garland Smith 4- 7 second miss.

DAVE PARSEL WINS SEPTEMBER 5K WITH TIME OF 16:01

Dave Parsel won his 27th 5K and 6th of the year in a time of 16:01 on September 11, 2000. Rounding out the top five were: John Araujo 2- 17:28, Dave Schiller 3- 17:34, Gary Shapiro 4- 17:53 and David Hicks 5- 18:44.

Three walkers and five runners established personal bests. The three walkers besting their first race in August were: Christine Phung 4:50 better, Geri Griffin 4:33 better and Liz Beattie 4:33 better. Larry Ginsberg led the runners setting personal bests by lowering his PB by 54 seconds. Fred Sienko lowered his PB by 45 seconds, Walter KawaKami by 22 seconds, David Hicks by 16 seconds and Dave Shapiro by 1 second. Congrats to all the PB setters.

The next 5K is scheduled for Monday, October 9, 2000 at 11:50 AM. Mark you calendar for our 200th race on January 8, 2001.

ANAHEIM WINS TEAM EVENT

Anaheim won the team event with 31 total places and total team time of 94:36. Corporate was 2nd with 55 places and a time of 102:11. Aerospace was 3rd with 77 places and a team time of 110:32. Huntington Beach only had 3 runners. This leaves the 2000 race standings as: Huntington Beach 4, Aerospace 2, Corporate 2 and Anaheim 1 win. In the cum competition Aerospace leads Corporate 99-56-8.

This was Anaheims fastest team time ever beating the 95.19 set in May 1996.

Pacing the Anaheim team were: John Araujo 2- 17:28, Dave Shapiro 4- 17:53, David Hicks 5- 18:44, Kie Soo Hoo 8- 19:26 and Jim Heller 12- 21:05. Corporate was led by: Todd Byers 7- 19:15, Darin Esplin 9- 19:41, Rich Terrell 10- 20:02, Ed Loh 11- 20:22 and Ralph Castro 18- 22:51. Aerospace was paced by: Tony Trujillo 13- 21:27, Ron Dudash 14- 22:00, Peter Lew 15- 22:04, Mark Calkins 17- 22:10 and Edgard Roa 18- 22:51. Huntington Beach's 3 runners were: Dave Parsel 1- 16:01, David Schiller 3- 17:34 and Neal Karchem 6- 18:59.

AEROSPACE WINS MIXED TEAM EVENT

Aerospace won the mixed team event with total places of 119 and total team time of 120:55. Corporate only had 4 runners and Anahiem 2 runners. Aerospace has won all 9 mixed team events in 2000 and leads Corporate in the cum event 70-53-25. Pacing Aerospace was: Michelle DeJong 20- 22:58, Rick Salas 22- 23:23, Fred Sienko 23- 23:38, Ralph Wetterhahn 24- 25:23 and Tracey Rinehart 30- 25:33. Corporate 4 runners were: Larry Ginsberg 21- 23:17, Gerry Aschoff 32- 25:58, Nelson Slagle 36- 30:39 and Theresa Boehm 38- 32:41. Anaheim's two runners were Hank Barcikowski 16- 22:06 and Glen Oak 3- 25:56.
