PREDICTOR OF THE WEEK
Mark Johnson
POW MARK JOHNSON WINS 2009 FOOTBALL PREDICTS BY A RECORD 204 POINTS
Mark Johnson won the 2009 Football Predictions by a record 204 points.   The previous record win in football
was 151 points by Mark over Nelson in 1995.  The high in Basketball Predictions was 147 points by Bob Scholl
over runner-up Jim Slagle in 1973.   Thus Mark obliterated the record in the 84th contest in basketball and football!
This is Mark's first win since 2003 and 4th time overall.  Mark has also finished 2nd 5 times and is easily our all time
leading football predictor beating 89% of the predictors in an average year.    He has finished in the top 10%
eleven times in the 20 years he has predicted, and he has finished 1st, 2nd 3 times and 4th in last 5 years.
Odds would have finished 2nd this year after being 1st 12 times in last 23 years if counted as a predictor.
Mark picked 13 winners on way to Predictor of the Week honors for 4th time this season.  Jim Slagle picked
12 winners and Dick Hammerstrom and Phil Hensley picked 11 winners.  Key wins for Mark were wins by Buffalo,
Carolina and Houston.
After a record 15 straight weeks of everyone submitting their prediction,  we had one predictor in each of the last
two weeks of the season to fail to submit a prediction.  That means all of us predictors submitted 270 out of a possible 272
predictions for a record 99.26% submittal.  Thanks to everyone for being so diligent and for predicting.
NFL playoff predictions will be due Friday.  You will receive an e-mail on the first weekend games on Monday.
Basketball Predictions for week 1 are due Tuesday, January 12th.  To earn a chance to be Predictor of the year,
you need to predict basketball, baseball and football.  Bob Thomas was predictor of the year in 2009.
