      NELSON SLAGLE WINS GAME 130
Nelson Slagle won hearts game 130 as 17 players attended including Bob Scholl and Dick Hammerstrom from Wisconsin.   This is the 2nd most
players in one game since a reunion game in April 1985.  The most players at one game in the last 24 years was 21 in May 2007 when Russ
  Shinabarger was in town.
John Slagle lead after 5 rounds, Dick Hammerstrom led after two rounds, Morris Willkie was tied with John after 6 rounds and Nelson never led
after any round  until the 32nd and last hand.   Nelson led after one other hand the 26th when he had 107, Morris had 116, Dick 119 and John
  120.  On the 27th hand Nelson ate the Queen of Spades for the only time all game (and 12 hearts for 25 points)  and started the last round on the
2nd table with 139 points.  The first table was John Slagle 121, Dick Hammerstrom 122 Morris Willkie 132 and Hal Berger 134.  Unknown to
the 1st table Nelson ran the 2nd hand but still trailed John 129 to 131 with Morris at 137 and Dick at 155 going into the final hand.  Nelson
picked up one point on the last hand while John picked up 20 to enable Nelson to win his 19th game.  Telly (4), John (3), Nelson (3), Tim
Carman (2) and Jerry Slagle (2) have won 14 of last 16 games we have held.
On Nelson's run he was dealt AQJ84 of hearts and was passed a singleton K of hearts.   But not looking to run he passed an A of diamonds.
Diamonds and clubs were each led once before a heart was led.  It was Nelson's only run of the night although he sat in on 4 other runs.  His
points for the night were 46 points on runs, -13 for a run, 13 for getting Queen of spades once and 86 points on hearts.
The top 3 all time players with at least 150 decisions (roughly played 14 games ) that have played in the last 20 years were the top 3
  finishers in game 130.
Four players made their first appearance in years.  Al Hart last played  5-2000, Bob Thomas last played 9-92, Chris Porter last played 11-85
and Bob Scholl last played 1-1981.
Congrats to Melissa Hazlewood (Andrew's daughter) for playing.  She is the 3rd and youngest female to play in a game (Sophomore at
Lakewood High School) and with Carol Tsai we had two females in the same game for the first time.
And thanks to Bob Scholl and Dick Hammerstrom coming from Wisconsin to play hearts (they said it beat sub
zero weather) and Bob Thomas and Chris Porter for carpooling in from the Riverside vicinity.
We will schedule the next game when we have out of town guests so any of you out of Southern California
players, let me know when you will be in the area.
The next stat sheet will include games 125-131.
